In the past, we have talked about one of the inspirational apps we like (#NeilYoungAmericana) and how our approach has been to build on basic concepts that clients bring to us in order to create more comprehensive and more robust offerings. #HashTagMap is a great example of this. We have built other mapping experiences and products in the past including:
- Cher Loyd Facebook application - Map and visualization (See originals)
- Kirk Fanklin Tour Map - Map and photo gallery (see originals)
- See Other Examples...
The #NeilYoungAmericana is nice in its attempt to integrate Instagram photos with maps to create a visual social media mapping experience. In spec'ing out our approach to solving the problem, we found clients wanted to support a much more broad range of features in social media mapping product. These features included:
- Support for broad range of map types
- Support for multiple aggregation approaches
- Support Instagram, Twitter, texting (SMS) and direct uploads
- Ability to integrate events, event and ticketing information
- Social media sharing on Facebook and Twitter
The Easton Corbin #AllOverTheRoad project is good example of #HashTagMap in action. The application encourages fans to share their photos from #AllOverTheRoad on Easton's home page. At the same time, it focuses on his tour schedule and integrates event locations and dates into the social mapping experience. The page was also obviously designed to promote Easton's new album: All Over the Road.
