Work It: The Guide to "Featured" Facebook Posts

OBB: Facebook Post Campaign
As part our the campaign around our OBB Instagram Facebook application, we designed, created and managed weekly posts on Facebook to help promote the application. Frequent reminders, promotion and feedback are key when it comes to ensuring a successful social media campaign.

  • Frequent Reminders: Fans need to be reminded of your promotion! People have a 15 minute "attention window" on Facebook -  if they see a post in the next 15 minutes, They'll jump on it, if not -  it disappears off their page.  Our "featured posts" provide a great "excuses" to promote your campaign without coming across as "bore" and fall in the trap of "over marketing"
  • Promoting Fan Submissions: Because these are "featured" posts, they highlight fan entries, thus encouraging fans to participate. This creates a powerful "feedback loop" -  fans see their working being featured and promoted, which encourages them to participate for a chance to get 15 minutes of fame!
  • Create More Graphic Content: Featured posts are a great way of create more graphic-driven content! Most marketers know that picture is worth a thousand posts (on Facebook), so featured posts are a perfect tool and a convenient excuse to publish rich content on Facebook.

Launch your Campaign:
The best way to launch your campaign is graphically! Fans respond better to graphics than they do to text. Need one? We'll create one for free for any of our applications or campaigns.

Daily or Weekly Features
Highlight some of the great content being created by fans through our applications! Most of our products and services provide convenient tools to automate or simplify the process. We'll work with you to create attracted templates that can automatically and dynamically be created with the click of a button (Photoshop NOT required) and shared on Facebook or Twitter. Below is an example of a feature content template we developed for the OBB Instagram campaign.

Keep It Coming
You can do your own posts or we can do your posts for you. The key is frequency and consistency! We can work with you to create a schedule and stick to it!  You probably have more important things to worry about, our team doesn't (sorta).  Where many campaigns FAIL is when clients only make one or two posts, but fail to continue promoting the campaign.  By allow our team to work it, we can expect a lot user engagement and a lot more success!

The Feedback Loop is Where Its At!
This is what we mean by the "feedback loop". It is the "social media proof" behind fan engagement and activation.  Fans see that their (or someone else's) content is being promoted and highlighted, making fan's more likely to participate!  Sometime we seek out and promote "super fan" submissions -  many of whom enjoy their "social media pay day" and promote their "feature" even more aggressively!

Morgan Frazier: Facebook Post Campaign
When we launched the Morgan Frazier Yellow Brick Road campaign she only had 5,000 (thanks to the campaign she has doubled her fans to over 10,000 fans). As I mentioned, our "Work It" campaigns are sometimes most useful for smaller artists, whose campaigns don't usually "automatically go viral".  We worked diligently on this campaign for a 2 month period -  featuring submissions and reminding fans to enter and share!

Focus on Fans and They'll Love You For It
Feature campaigns allow you to give fans their 15 minutes of fame and grow the connect they feel with their favorite artist.

Make Lemonade Out of Lemons
Even the problems of "poor" content or low submission levels are easily masked (and potentially remedied) by a good posting campaign! Content doesn't have be great, rich or profound to work well in a featured post! Fans simply love the fact they THEY have a chance of getting featured.

Wolverine: Facebook Post Design
A couple of months ago we launched several XBOX Avatar related social media campaigns for The Wolverine.

Keep Changing and Mixing It Up
Sometimes you only have one message you want to get out! BUY THE NEW ALBUM! ENTER THE SWEEPSTAKES! Not a problem -  just change graphic posts and mix it up! You don't have to repeat the same graphic over and over again. We can work with you to create multiple versions of promotional post that you can rotate over time. Below is a good example of this in action!

CMT: Red Neck Island Facebook and TV Post Campaign

Take It Offline, Take It Off/On Network
Why limit yourself just to Facebook posts? You can use the same graphics on Twitter or, like in the case of CMT, they featured content during the network show itself as part of Redneck Island Post Card campaign!  The "prize" was the chance for fans to get featured their submissions on network television! We work with CMT to promote pictures weekly (on their Facebook page) and select "winners" to feature on the actual TV network show.

Get Permission If Necessary
Not all content is fair game! Sometimes content requires parental permission or approval. Our moderation and management tools (and our team) will help you get those when necessary.

Fake It Till You Make It!
When we "work it", we really work it.  In fact, we have built a network of "fan talent" and sometimes clients ask or give us permission to "solicit" high quality or high quantity submissions. At Metablocks we have a saying: "When you are being chased out of town, wave a batton and make it look like a parade!"  Running successful campaigns is hard word! "Looking successful" is a little big easier -  and we try to make your campaigns "look successful" and "be successful" and many times "faking it" until you reach critical mass is just what it takes.  Great content doesn't always grow on trees! Sometimes you have to give the tree a good shake!
