6 New Instagram Applications Worth Looking At

We build A LOT of Instagram application. By a lot I mean both quantity and variety. As the popularity of Instagram continues to grow, so do the application requests. Instagram has been the preferred UGC (user genereated content) submission mechanism for photos for many of the brands and labels we work with. This is the latest addition to our arsenal of Instagram applications - the Instagram Video Mashup! Similar to Bruno Mar's Treasure Dance and J. Cole's #MyCrookedSmile, the Grouplove #WaysToGo application pulls in Instagram videos with the hashtags #WaysToGo and creates an unique video mashup!

There are a number of ways (legal and semi-legal) to run contest, sweepstakes and UGC campaigns on Instagram. We have solutions to fit all approaches and needs - from the very kosher and legal to the more informal (were user's do not explicitly have to accept a set of rules) as in this example. Additionally our Instagram applications support moderation (both front-end and back-end moderation).

We covered this campaign in our post about Instagram lyric video submission best practices. This campaign for UMG artist Tori Kelly, asks fans to submit videos and photos for inclusion in her fan-driven Instagram Lyric Video. This unique application also featured a moderation back-end and a drag-and-drop lyrics mapping that lets a moderator quickly map incoming instagram photos and videos to the lyrics to create a organized list of content they can hand off to production.

Alley Boy #StackItUp

This straight forward Instagram application is packaged as a Facebook tab. It allows fans to submit content using the hashtag #StackItUp and features a "StackItUp" meter that unlocks exclusive content on the page as the number of submissions on Instagram increases. The page also features a lightbox to promote Alley Boy's latest music video.

In general, our Instagram sweepstakes application can live on both Facebook and standalone microsites. This version of the application we built for Curb Record's band OBB is actually a Facebook application and features an integrated Instagram Wall.
