Please see examples of other sweepstakes we have done – here. These should provide a context for this discussion.
CONCEPT #1: Facebook Based Scavenger Hunt
Overview:
Develop a Facebook based scavenger hunt application that gives fans clues each week (for 6–8 weeks) and asks them to find the answers. The answers would all be either in an episode of the show (that would require them to watch it on TV or online, we could have “hint” links to online versions), on a page on the website, or within the new iPhone/iPad application. Fans who collect (or correctly answer) all the clues, would be able to enter a sweepstakes to win a “Fashion-related” prize (or multiple prizes).
Goals and Objects:
- Create awareness around the show
- Encourage fans to download the mobile application
- Encourage fans/prospects to watch (and engage) with the show
Features and Functionality:
- The answers to questions posed by the scavenger hunt application would require users to watch the show, download app and/or visit the website
- We could optionally “Like-gate” the scavenger hunt application so users would be required to become fans of Fashion Police in order to access it.
- Application would feature comprehensive sharing, allow/encouraging fans to share it on Facebook and Twitter. Each time they answer a question they would have an option/prompt to share their answer (“I just answered today’s Fashion Police clue and entered for a chance to win a $2000 Shopping Spree from E! Entertainment”, i.e.)
- E! would announce each week’s clue on the Fashion Police Facebook page and Twitter account. Fans would be directed to the Facebook application to enter.
- The Facebook application would require users be authenticated (to save their progress) in order to play the game. We could optionally provide an opt-in/opt-out to a Fashion Police newsletter/updates and collect their real email addresses.
Examples:
Cost/Details:
- $6K–$9K depending on details
- more basic version can be done: $4K – $6K range
CONCEPT #2: Mobile/QR Code Scavenger Hunt
Overview:
Develop a QR code driven scavenger hunt were fans would use their mobile devices (iPhone, Android, Blackberry, i.e.) to scan QR codes embed on the TV show (corner or the screen), or on pages on the website or the shows Facebook page. A simple call to action for example would: Scan the QR codes on the next 6 episodes of Fashion Police and enter for a chance to win. The use of QR codes within the show, would draw immediate attention/interest in the scavenger hunt and would be a good tool/hook to drive them online to some of the other properties. The QR codes could be designed so once user scanned and “collected” them, they would be redirected to another website (or Fashion Police online property). Once a user collected or 6–8 badges, they would be able to enter the sweepstakes.
Features and Functionality:
- Call to action would be to watch the show (to scan a QR code) or visit a Fashion Police online property to find and scan the QR code
- QR codes on the show would draw attention to scavenger hunt and point people online
- Mobile application would work on all major platforms
- Mobile application would also encourage fans to share their badges on Facebook or Twitter and like/follow Fashion Police

CONCEPT #3: Twitter Based Question and Answer Application
Overview:
Develop a Twitter based question and answer application that asks fans question once (or more) a week for 6–8 weeks and ask fans to respond. The questions would relate to a past or future episode of the show (What did you thing about XXXX that happened in last weeks show or you do you think is going to be eliminated in next week’s show, i.e.). Fans would be encourage to share and distribute their answers using Twitter (creating online buzz and drawing in new users). Viewers (and or administrators) would be able to vote on the answers they like best and prizes would be award based on that information.
Goals and Objects:
- Create awareness around the show via Twitter, especially before the show, letting people know when it will airing
- Encourage fans to download the mobile application
- Encourage fans/prospects to watch (and engage) with the show
Features and Functionality:
- The application would pose a new question weekly to fans. Optionally it could include photos, i.e. as part of the question.
- The application would promote the show with links to social media sites, the website, the iPhone app as well as air-times and other information.
- Users would be forced to followed @e_FashionPolice on twitter (automatically) and would have option of changing their avatar to promote the show.
