Reik Billboard: Online Imitating Life

The Mexican band Reik recently ran successful offline activation in the cities of Monterrey, Mexico City and Guadalajara.  Empty large billboards were placed at key locations and band members invited fans to share and capture their first hand stories on them along with the hashtag #YaMeEnteré. Because of its success in the physical world and because of request from fans outside those 3 cities to participate, Sony Mexico reach out to us to create an online virtual version of the experience.  You can read about it in our Reik Billboard #YaMeEntere Virtual Board post.

Physical Billboards - The Origin
The original idea was to create these fan-generated murals and then feature them upcoming music video by the band.

Virtual Billboard
Here at Metablocks, after viewing photos of the actual murals in Mexico, we tried to replicate the "essence" of the the campaign - the ability for fans to leave person creative, potentially "handwritten" messages on a wall for the band by building our won virtual billboard engine, complete with pens, colors and erasers. You can read more about it here.
