Like-gating video, graphic and other content on Facebook has proved a very effective for many of our clients in the Music and Gaming industries. The idea is simple: require fans to “Like” a page in order to access exclusive video content.
Our proprietary YouTube player/widget (which uses our version of their API) allows Facebook pages to host exclusive videos without exposing the video’s URL to fans. In the past, using YouTube for exclusive video reveals didn’t work because it was easy for fans to click-through and get the actual URL for the YouTube video, then share it with friend (thereby doing away with the notion of exclusive content). Our player blocks this type of interaction, at the same time supporting features such as HD (High Definition) and Full Screen Support.
Our player also overcomes the limitations of using Vimeo (our favorite video hosting service) to host exclusive content. Although Vimeo has some security features, they do not work in secure mode (HTTPS), while our widget does.
Here are some examples in the gaming industry:

Popular with fans, the application also got some great press from news outlets like MTV.
